How to Get Started with the Testimonial Video Editor

Written by Damon Chen

People who submit video testimonials sometimes have awkward moments at the beginning and the end of their recording. 😅

You can now cut those mishaps with our Testimonial Video Editor.

You will find the Video Editing option for each video testimonial in question.

1. Go to your Dashboard, select the Space, click on the upper 3 dots on the right of the testimonial and click on Edit Testimonial as shown here:

2. Once you see the Edit Testimonial pop-up, click on Open Studio. (Only for Ultimate+ members).

Then our service will take you to the Studio:

When you open a video in the Testimonial.studio editor, you are automatically placed in Draft mode. This means your current testimonial video is safe and won't change until you finalize and replace it.

Here is how to navigate the new editor and kick off your project:

1. Look at the left-hand sidebar. By default, you will start in the Assistant tab. This is your central hub for kicking off your edit. The Assistant will provide some suggestions right away; you can click on "Apply" and review the result!

2.Choose your starting path:In the Assistant panel under the STARTING DRAFTS section, you have two options to begin your project:

  • Generate drafts: Click this button to have the system generate a few opinionated directions. You can apply one of these to automatically set your captions, crop, hook, transitions, and b-roll suggestions. (Note: Drafts can only be generated after transcription finishes).

  • Start from scratch: Click this button to skip the AI suggestions entirely and jump directly into the manual editing flow.

3.Set your video format:Move over to the PREVIEW window in the top right section of your screen. Use the format buttons to choose your desired aspect ratio:

  • 16:9 (Standard widescreen)

  • 9:16 (Vertical for mobile/social)

  • 1:1 (Square)

  • 3:4 (Portrait)

You can also verify or change your resolution using the dropdown (e.g., 1080p) next to the Export button.

4.Edit on the Timeline:Navigate to the bottom of the screen to find your editing timeline. Here you can:

  • Use playback controls to play, pause, and adjust playback speed (e.g., 1x).

  • Access manual editing tools like Cut, Fx, and timeline zoom.

  • Organize your media across the designated tracks: V1 - B-ROLL, V2 - OVERLAYS, and AUDIO.

5.Export your final video:Once you are satisfied with your edits and have reviewed them in the Preview window, click the yellow Export button in the top right corner to finalize your video.

Example: Cutting a Segment

In this example, we'll remove the part where I was off the chair.

In this example we'll cut the time that I was off the chair.

Click the Cut button located in the bottom right of the timeline. Set two points: the start and end of the segment you want to remove. (The selected video section will turn grey.)

Once done, you'll see the video section in grey; do a right click on it and then Remove this segment.

The segment will be removed from the timeline. If needed, click Format to make additional edits. Review the results, then click Export.

Troubleshooting Video Issues

If you encounter issues with downloaded videos, such as missing audio, here are some steps to resolve them:

  1. Check the Original Recording: Missing audio in a downloaded video is typically caused by issues during the original recording, such as a malfunctioning microphone.

  2. Re-record the Video: If the issue stems from the original recording, the submitter will need to re-record their testimonial using a properly functioning microphone. The platform itself does not alter or remove audio from videos during the upload or download process.
