How to Get Started with the Testimonial Video Editor

Trim, caption, and export a video testimonial in the Video Editor (Ultimate+).

Written by Damon Chen

Trim awkward starts and ends, add captions, and export a new version of a video testimonial in the Video Editor. Opening Studio does not change the live video until you export and replace it.

Note: Open Studio is available on Ultimate+.

Open Studio

  1. Go to the dashboard, open the space, click the three-dot menu on the video, then click Edit Testimonial.

  2. In the Edit Testimonial modal, click Open Studio.

Studio opens in Draft mode. The current testimonial video stays as-is until you finalize and replace it.

Use the editor

Assistant

The left sidebar opens on the Assistant tab. Click Apply on a suggestion to preview it.

Under Starting drafts:

  • Generate drafts: Creates a few starting directions. Applying one can set captions, crop, hook, transitions, and b-roll suggestions.

  • Start from scratch: Skip AI suggestions and edit manually.

Note: Drafts can be generated only after transcription finishes.

Format

In the Preview window (top right), choose an aspect ratio:

  • 16:9 (widescreen)

  • 9:16 (vertical)

  • 1:1 (square)

  • 3:4 (portrait)

Set resolution (for example, 1080p) in the dropdown next to Export.

Timeline

Use the timeline at the bottom to:

  • Play, pause, and change playback speed (for example, 1x)

  • Use Cut, Fx, and timeline zoom

  • Work across tracks: V1 - B-ROLL, V2 - OVERLAYS, and AUDIO

Export

Review the Preview window, then click the yellow Export button in the top right.

Example: cut a segment

Example: Maya leaves the frame at the start of the recording. Cut that segment out.

  1. Click Cut at the bottom right of the timeline. Set a start point and an end point. The selected section turns grey.

  2. Right-click the grey section and click Remove this segment.

  3. Use Format for more edits if needed. Review the result, then click Export.

Troubleshooting

If a downloaded video is missing audio:

  1. Check the original recording. Missing audio usually comes from the recording, such as a microphone that did not work.

  2. Ask the submitter to record again with a working microphone. The platform does not remove audio during upload or download.
