What is a case study in a testimonial?

A case study is an async customer interview — a structured set of questions you send to a customer, who answers at their own pace by typing or recording a voice memo.

Available on the Ultimate + plan and above. Testimonial automatically transcribes voice answers and delivers a fully attributed, question-by-question transcript directly to you.

No scheduling. No Zoom links. No back-and-forth emails. Your customer answers when it suits them — in as little as 10 minutes.

The Case Study list

Go to your Space and click Case studies in the left sidebar. This page shows:

  • All your existing Case studies, each showing their name and active settings at a glance.

  • A New Case Study button in the top-right to create additional surveys.

Each case study card has an edit (pencil) and delete (trash) icon. Clicking a case opens its management view with five tabs: Analytics, Submissions, Recipients, and Settings.


Creating a Case Study

Click "Create your First case study" or "New Case study" to open the creation form.

If your current plan doesn't include this feature, an upgrade option will appear along with a sample of what the Case study would look like.

1. Name

An internal label to easily identify the case study.

2. Questions

Add the questions your customer will answer. Start from a template or build from scratch with "Add question". Templates are fully editable after selection.

3. Layout

Choose how respondents experience the form.

4. Testimonial collection (optional)

Check "Also ask recipients to leave a testimonial" to show a testimonial prompt at the bottom of the form. You can customize the request message. Submitted testimonials are automatically linked to their case study response.

5. Invitation email

Customize the email recipients who receive invitations. Supports {{recipientName}}, {{senderName}}, and {{caseStudyName}} as placeholders.

  • Sender name — the display name shown in the From field

  • Subject — defaults to {{senderName}} wants your help with a case study

  • Body — the CTA button and link are appended automatically

  • CTA button color — pick a preset or enter a custom hex value

6. Reminders

Check "Send a reminder to recipients who haven't replied" to automatically follow up with non-responders.

7. Create

Click "Create" to save and activate. You'll land in the case study's management view.
