Here's how to link your domain to your Wall of Love page and landing page: create a cname record on your DNS settings, then use a custom domain of your choice.

Our guide is divided into three parts: explaining what a subdomain is, steps on where to set this up, and troubleshooting tips you may need.

What is a subdomain?

A subdomain is a subset of a domain name that is used to arrange and navigate various services, like testimonial.to. In a URL, it comes before the primary domain name.

This is an explanation of how it functions:

  • Main Domain: This is the primary domain name for a website, like 'testimonial.to'.

  • Subdomain: This is an additional part of the domain name that precedes the main domain. For example, 'wall.testimonial.to' or 'love.testimonial.to'

Steps on Creating Your Custom Domain

Add your custom domain to your space

  1. On your main dashboard page, for each space, you will see a little three-dot icon. Clicking that will show a drop-down list. Pick the Custom domain option.

  2. Enter your preferred subdomain name; these are some of the most popular options:

    1. testimonial.yourwebsite.com

    2. love.yourwebsite.com

    3. shoutout.yourwebsite.com

  3. Save the changes.

Updating your DNS records

  1. After you save the subdomain, head over to your domain provider's DNS setup.

  2. Add a CNAME record for your subdomain pointing to cname.testimonial.to.

Here are some instructions for setting CNAME records in some popular DNS services:

  • CloudFlare Make sure to disable the orange cloud โ›…๏ธ for the CNAME record ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ’กSay your custom domain is testimonial.yourwebsite.com, in the CNAME record, make sure the source is the subdomain name testimonial, and the destination is cname.testimonial.to.

๐Ÿ“ขThe whole process may take more than 24 hours. But most of the time, it can be handled within hours. So please be patient! ๐Ÿ™

Troubleshooting tips

The custom domain page layout looks different

  • Recently added your custom domain and saw that it looks different from our platform link layout. Kindly send us a message, and we will have this taken care of for you.

The custom domain is still not working after adding the record to your DNS provider

  • Please note that for the custom domain to work, we will need to wait for the CNAME record to propagate. Propagation may take from 24 to 72 hours after setup, depending on your server.

  • You may use an online tool like What's My DNS to check the status of the CNAME record you have added to your DNS settings.

To search for records in What's My DNS, follow the step-by-step instructions below:

    1. Enter your subdomain in the first field.

    2. Select the CNAME record type in the second field.

    3. Hit Search, and here's a sample of what it would be like once propagated.
