This article explains the maximum resolution Testimonial.to supports for video testimonials, what affects how sharp a submission looks, and practical ways to collect better footage. It is for Space owners and anyone setting up a collection form.
Video quality is available on all plans. To adjust collection settings, open your Space, expand Space settings in the sidebar, and click Edit the space.
Overview
A customer records or uploads a video through your Space form. Testimonial.to sends the file to Mux for processing, then stores playback and MP4 download files you can use on your Wall of Love, embeds, and exports.
The sharpest result still depends on the camera, lighting, and connection the customer uses—but the product caps in-browser recording and delivers video up to 1080p (1920×1080).
Maximum resolution
Testimonial.to supports video testimonials up to 1080p. When someone records in the browser on a desktop or laptop, the camera is requested at up to 1920 pixels wide and 1080 pixels tall (ideal 1280×720).
Videos above 1080p are not supported as a final output resolution. Uploaded files are processed through the same video pipeline and made available for playback and download in standard MP4 renditions (including a high-quality high.mp4 file when Mux provides multiple tiers).
What affects the final quality
Camera and device — A 1080p webcam or recent phone camera produces a sharper testimonial than a low-resolution front camera.
Lighting and stability — Good lighting and a steady device reduce noise and blur, even at the same resolution.
Recording vs upload — Live in-browser recording uses the constraints above; uploading an existing file can preserve more detail if the source video was recorded in high resolution on the device.
Mobile browsers — On phones, live recording may use the device’s default camera settings rather than the full desktop resolution targets.
Recording and uploading
On the testimonial form, customers typically see Record a video and Upload a video (or Choose a File to Submit when live recording is turned off). Both paths accept standard video files (video/*) and upload them for processing.
Record a video — Uses the browser camera with a maximum of 1080p height on supported desktop setups.
Upload a video — Lets customers submit a video already on their device, which is often the best option when their phone records higher quality than an in-browser capture.
Playback and downloads
After processing, videos stream through Mux for playback on your Wall of Love and embeds. When you download a testimonial, you receive an MP4 at the best available rendition (the product selects the highest-quality MP4 file, such as high.mp4, when multiple renditions exist).
Marketing copy on the site describes downloads as MP4 with the video’s original resolution; in practice, that resolution will not exceed the 1080p cap described above.

Better quality from iPhone customers
iPhones often do not support high-resolution live recording inside the browser. If iPhone submissions look soft, enable upload-only for iPhone users so they submit a video recorded in the Camera app instead.
Open your Space, expand Space settings, and click Edit the space.
Open the Extra settings tab.
Turn on Disable video recording for iPhone users. iPhone visitors will see upload options (Upload a video / Choose a File to Submit) instead of the in-browser recorder.
Save your Space changes.
The in-app tooltip for this setting notes that iPhone does not support high-resolution recording on the spot, and that uploaded videos from the camera roll may look better.
Video length is separate from resolution
How long a video can be is controlled by plan defaults and your Space’s Max video duration setting under Extra settings (for example, about 2 minutes on Free and up to 5 minutes on Ultimate). Longer custom limits are available on Enterprise. Duration limits do not change the 1080p resolution cap.
Request sharper testimonials
When you invite customers, suggest good lighting, a quiet room, and—on phones—recording in the device camera app first, then uploading the file. You are set up to receive high-quality video testimonials within the 1080p maximum.
